B- 20 Kinds of View of a Self

"An uninstructed worldling — who has no regard for noble ones, is unskilled or undisciplined in their Dhamma; who has no regard for persons of integrity, is unskilled and undisciplined in their Dhamma — assumes form to be the self, or the self as possessing form, or form as in the self, or the self as in form.

"He assumes feeling to be the self...

"He assumes perception to be the self...

"He assumes (mental) fabrications to be the self...

"He assumes consciousness to be the self, or the self as possessing consciousness, or consciousness as in the self, or the self as in consciousness."

Evameva kho āvuso assutavā puthujjano ariyānaṃ adassāvī ariyadhammassa akovido ariyadhamme avinīto, sappurisānaṃ adassāvī sappurisadhammassa akovido sappurisadhamme avinīto, rūpaṃ attato samanupassati, rūpavantaṃ vā attānaṃ. Attani vā rūpaṃ, rūpasmiṃ vā attānaṃ. (...)

assutavā = uninstructed

puthujjano (nom. sg.)= run-of-the-mill person

ariyānaṃ adassāvī =with no regards for the noble ones

ariyadhammassa akovido = is not well-versed or disciplined in their Dhamma; sappurisānaṃ adassāvī = who has no regard for men of integrity

sappurisadhammassa akovido = is not well-versed in their Dhamma

ariyadhamme avinīto = not disciplined in the Dhamma of the noble ones,

sappurisadhamme avinīto = not disciplined in the Dhamma of men of integrity,

rūpaṃ (acc. sg.) attato (abl. sg.) samanupassati= he assumes form to be the self

rūpavantaṃ vā attānaṃ (acc. sg.)= or the self as possessing form

Attani (loc. sg.) vā rūpaṃ (acc. sg.) = or form as in the self

rūpasmiṃ (loc. sg.) vā attānaṃ (acc. sg.)= or self as in form

Vedanaṃ (acc. sg.)= feeling

Saññaṃ (acc. sg.) = perception
